First Class Come and Gone!
Today was a good day! First of all, I got to go and see my Mother who wasn't exactly expecting to see me down here. That was special since we've been a little short of spending time with each other in the past year or so. After that, I met up with Rick for lunch at this great place I didn't even know existed. It's called "Tropical Smoothie" or something of that sort. In any case, I had the King Caesar, a chicken wrap which was really good. I'm gonna try one of the smoothies next I think. If you've never had a smoothie, you really are missing out.
The first comment on my blog was actually constructive criticism which I will try to implement into all my future posts. While showcasing all my prior and current writing to my brother, Robb, he was curious if I had ever heard of paragraphs. I informed him that yes, I had indeed heard of them. However, my writing style sometimes is just what I like to call "free-flowing thought." That's why there were hardly ever any paragraphs because I just wrote down things that came to mind. But in an effort to make for better reading for you all, I should have paragraphs in all my stuff from now on.
Today I had my first night class of the Fall Semester. It was Western Civilization II. I guess they divide all of Western Civ into 3 parts for 3 separate semesters. The professor is Robert Farley. After tonight's class, I couldn't me any happier with him. He loves history. To a point where you kind of wonder about him. He was spitting out dates and locations from back in the 1400's like it was second nature. Get this, he knew the names of Pope Alexander VI's illegitimate children. That's nuts! But I used to be somewhat of an intellectual, so it was all kind of fascinating for me. For those of you who don't know or who may need a refresher--I just learned this today--Pope Alexander VI was the individual who drew the line in for the Treaty of Tordesillas.
So yea, I really like this guy and for some reason, can't wait to go back to class. It was really interesting for me. I'm kind of sad now that I have someone else teaching my American History class tomorrow instead of him.....I may have to look into whether or not he teaches American History at nights or not.
I also got ahold of the store manager at the Verizon Wireless store I had interviewed at last weekend. Well...I called for him, but I actually talked to someone I don't know who was just answering the phone. Evidently I'm a shoe-in for the job but I'll have to talk to the general manager there here in a few days whenever he calls me up. So we'll see how that goes.
Small update on the apartment issue. Tomorrow I think I'm going to go speak with the lady over at Woodfield Apartments and see about getting things in motion.
Oh! Another thing. I went to Wal-Mart today to get my oil changed, except it looks like my oil pan nut(the thing you unscrew to drain old oil) is messed up. Basically what looks to have happened is that the edges that allow a wrench to grip and turn it have been rounded from excessive maintenance. So I'm going to have to stop by a parts store tomorrow and pick that up. I think I'll grab a 180ยบ thermostat as well. They cost like $5.00 and it'll keep my car running colder which should equal better performance, slightly better safety for the engine and hopefully better gas mileage!
OK, that's enough writing for today. Catch you all next time!
