Day Wasted
So I didn't do too much today. But I did accomplish one thing. I ran! That's twice this week. I really didn't want to. I mean I really didn't want to. In fact, I almost talked myself out of it. But I ended up doing it and felt much better about myself for it.
That being finished, I found myself with entirely too much free time. So I drove down to Jupiter and took a look around. First stop was a store called "Precious Puppies." I went in with absolutely no intentions of buying anything, just wanted to look around. I discovered a hybrid-breed dog I hadn't previously heard of. The "Puggle." evidently, these dogs are the cutest animals on the planet.

The Puggle is a hybrid of the Pug and Beagle breeds. Considering the Beagle has been a long time great family breed, well known for it's charming personality and it's good looks, one could say Puggle is bred for the sole purpose of just being the cute puppy around the house. This breed would be perfect for my apartment as well since they don't get very big at all. Out of curiosity, I asked them how much they were asking for them. I immediately discovered that $1,000 is way too much for me to be paying for a dog right now, especially from a store like that. After all, I was only looking around. So tomorrow I think I'm going to go up to Petco. They have the Humane Society come through with dogs for adoption on Wednesdays and Fridays. Also on another day but I forget which. But they sell em super cheap and come with alot of great stuff. It's probably too early for me to be getting any sort of pets right now, but it passes the time and gives me something to do.
So after that did something bad. I went to Taco Bell. One crunchwrap supreme and two soft tacos with Diet Pepsi. Wasn't too impressed with the food quality at this particular Taco Bell. It's the one down in Jupiter near the Chili's for you locals. It's odd though because the last time I was there, the food was fine. Anyways....then I committed a mortal sin. A sin which cannot be forgiven.
I went to Coldstone Creamery. Oh yes. I did. The ice cream was pretty good, don't get me wrong. I mainly did it because I was bored. That's the worst reason. I also felt kind of bad because a few days ago I was eating Dairy Queen with family and I said that from then on I would only eat ice cream once a week and that that was my "one ice cream" for the week. Since I'm trying to keep healthy and get back in shape, I thought this was pretty reasonable. Then a couple days after that, I was offered home made ice cream in a social setting, so I ate that. Compromise #1. Not as big of a deal though since I think homemade is better for you than store bought. Not sure though. Still a compromise none the less and definitely to be frowned upon.
Then came Coldstone Creamery. Compromise #2 and a very large one at that. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's very very good. So good in fact, that you seem to forget about how much fatter you are getting from it or how long it would take you to run off the calories you are gaining from it(around 2-3 hours of running minimum.) So from now on. NO BAD FOOD. Again, as with the running hold me to this. Here are my standards which I will stick to fiercely. No soda. Absolutely none. Water is the preferred drink and if that is not available, then go with ice tea(preferably non-sweet.) Ice cream/desert. One per week, that's one ice cream OR other desert, not AND. Dining out should be kept to a minimum to ensure healthy eating. Where dining out in this case refers to fast food. Evening dinners at restaurants in social settings are of course allowable. The only exception to this rule is Subway. Food there must be restricted to cold meats, vegetables and little to no dressing. All this plus my exercise schedule I am attempting to stick with(see previous blog) should put me on the track to getting back in shape.
I say 'back in shape,' because I--contrary to what some tell me--am NOT in shape. Not by my standards at least. Once I get to the point where I can run 2-3 miles each day of the work week, I will feel "in shape." Call me crazy, that's just my personal standards I am going to set for myself. I believe it will pay off. Speaking of being in shape, this brings me to the other thing I did in Jupiter.
I went and took a look around Gold's Gym. I'm not entirely sure I should be getting a membership there, but I wanted to look around. Afterall I had nothing else to do. If it seems that I'll have enough free time once I have my work schedule all sorted out, I may consider going there. Pushups and situps are fine to an extent. But I need dumbells(or whatever the one handed weights are called) so I can get a more focused workout for certain muscle groups. Not talking about the small sets you see people using in their homes. I'm talking about the 40lb-75lb ones.
Nothing else too crazy. Sorry for going on that rant about the eating thing. I just got it in my head and wrote it all out. But this way people can hold me to it so I might have better success than just being accountable to myself. I don't presume to be a health or exercise expert by any means, so any personal use of anything I put out there is your responsibility:)
See you all next time! Thanks for reading.

So what about FPL. Did they come through?
That dog is beyond adorable! I'm hoping you'll find one a lot cheaper - really cute.
You sure look like you are in shape but I'll take your word for it that you aren't. Great goals for living healthy!
Katie: LOL! you can cut back on the bad food, but not ICE CREAM! Way cute dog too! you should get one. young guys need dogs. :)
Laura: Total chick magnets ;o) haha. That rant on food and ice cream was hillarious! I feel ya.
Krissy: ditto.
Well unfortunately, Ice Cream is bad food. Not necessary either. It's really easy to say "I'll only have it on Sundays," etc. The only way I've found is to just make sure anyone you eat with knows you don't eat deserts and if they offer it to you, politely refuse it. They may not show it but they'll respect you for it because they wish they could do the same thing! ....I think
